Car and Trailer Training

Category B+E – Car & Trailer Training

Who it’s for

This course is ideal for drivers who need to tow a trailer safely and legally using a car or van. It’s commonly taken by people towing horseboxes, caravans, plant trailers, or work equipment.

It’s also a good option for employers who want their drivers trained and assessed to a clear, recognised standard.

What you’ll cover

The training is practical and hands-on, focusing on the real skills you need when towing, including:

  • Safely coupling and uncoupling a trailer
  • Loading correctly and distributing weight properly
  • Controlling the vehicle while towing
  • Reversing and manoeuvring with a trailer
  • Road awareness, planning ahead, and carrying out safety checks

If you’re new to towing or just want to build confidence, we also offer towing familiarisation sessions without a formal assessment.

Courses are available in 6, 8, 10, or 12-hour options. We’ll help you choose the right length based on your experience and what you’ll be towing.
